Intensive Outpatient Program

Another opportunity for our community to thrive.

Our Outpatient Center in Orange, CA is home to our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This space has been designed with intention, but even more so this program has. Our IOP was created for our clients with high acuity that would be best served in an outpatient setting. This center and program will serve our youth, young adults, and families - making sure they thrive no matter where they fall.

A place to grow.

“When you enter the center you will notice a mural. It may just look like paint drips, but underneath you would find words like love, kindness, evolve, thrive, compassion, and grow. We are hopeful that our youth & their families will feel those intentions in this space. It is a place for them to grow, to love themselves through the process, to practice compassion with themselves and others, and most importantly to thrive - as individuals and as a family unit.”

WHO

WHY

WHAT

Who does our Intensive Outpatient Program serve?

Our IOP is therapy for teens & young adults. Looking to help or motivate a teen with ADHD? Do you have a young adult who is looking for outpatient mental health services? Our IOP incorporates group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy, as well as experiential groups, to treat Anxiety, Depression, OCD, ADHD, and PTSD.

Why offer outpatient mental health services?

Adolescence is often a period filled with both exploration and uncertainty for young people. Teens who lack effective coping skills to handle life’s stressors during this crucial transition may face challenges in their mental and emotional well-being. Young adulthood on the other hand is a time of transition for many - starting and ending college, beginning a career, and managing relationships of different forms. Without proper resources and support in place, young adults can develop negative self-esteem, maladaptive coping skills and invest in poor peer relationships.

Consequently for both teens and young adults, they might develop mental health challenges, including depression and anxiety, or engage in harmful behaviors, including self-harm and suicidal thoughts. Behavioral Health Day Programs or Intensive Outpatient Programs in an Outpatient Center setting can allow for a more intensive and therapeutic approach, ensuring that they receive the proper support to foster a strong foundation for years to come.

What does your Intensive Outpatient Program provide?

At VOC, our clinicians provide support and hope for teens and their families in need of assistance or intervention. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) creates a validating and supportive atmosphere where participants can cultivate healthy behaviors and learn to manage their feelings, emotions, and personal relationships.

What is the Intensive Outpatient Program?

A beige sofa with two patterned pillows in front of a wall with the logo "Villages of California" and a house-shaped icon, with a wicker-lamp and a small plant on a side table.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at VOC is designed for middle and high school students, as well as young adults, experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety, depression, or other mental health-related issues.

The IOP will consist of 8-12 individual tracks, each with its own schedule, offered during after-school hours. This program employs cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), incorporating mindfulness practices, coping strategies, problem-solving skills, art therapy, and other expressive therapies to assist teens in developing and practicing healthy behaviors. The VOC IOP adheres to CBT principles, ensuring that all licensed clinicians involved have received extensive training in CBT, including trauma-informed care. Additionally, parents or guardians are invited to participate in family counseling and skills groups.
