School Based Services

Mental Health Care, Built Into the School Day.

Villages of California partners with school districts to deliver fully managed, on-campus mental health services, integrated directly into your MTSS and student support structures.

What We Do

Villages of California designs and operates school-based mental health programs in direct partnership with public school districts. We don't just place clinicians on a campus. We take clinical ownership of the program: staffing, supervision, training, data tracking, and outcomes accountability all sit with us.

That means school districts can partner with a single organization that's responsible for the quality of care delivered, not a staffing vendor that hands off responsibility once a placement is made.

Because we believe schools and students deserve programs that are built uniquely for them.

What We Offer

A Full Continuum of Campus-Based Support

Our school-based teams deliver support across every level of need, from universal prevention to intensive clinical intervention. Depending on a district's goals, that can include:

Prevention and Early Intervention

Delivered to the broader student population through classroom-based and small-group support.

Targeted Interventions

For students who need additional support to stay engaged and successful at school, personalized and strategic care is important.

Individual and Family Therapy

For students with more significant clinical needs, including crisis response and home-based outreach.

Coordination with School Teams

Including participation in student support meetings and IEP/504 processes. Ensuring student’s have a well-informed coordinated system of support.

Our staffing model combines licensed clinicians with trained behavioral support staff, all operating under structured clinical supervision, so care is consistent regardless of which team member a student works with.

Prevention-Focused Support, Embedded on Campus.

Meet our Behavioral Wellness Coaches

Behavioral Wellness Coaches (BWCs) are trained behavioral health support staff who work directly on campus to help students build the skills they need to stay regulated, engaged, and ready to learn. They focus on prevention and early intervention: catching behavioral and emotional challenges before they escalate into crises, suspensions, or lost instructional time.

A BWC's day-to-day work can include:

  • Individual wellness coaching: one-on-one behavioral skill-building support

  • Social-emotional learning groups: small-group sessions focused on core SEL skills

  • Resilience and psychoeducational groups: helping students build coping tools

  • Emotional regulation coaching: teaching practical strategies for managing big feelings

  • Classroom and campus support: preventive check-ins and behavioral support woven into the school day

  • Coordination with school staff and families - so support extends beyond the coach's direct sessions

Trained, Supervised, and Clearly Scoped

Every Behavioral Wellness Coach operates under the ongoing oversight of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), who guides behavioral strategy, supports staff training, and monitors program fidelity.

BWCs are an important part of our care team, and we're direct about what that role is and isn't: coaches provide preventive, skill-building support. They don't provide psychotherapy, diagnosis, or other services that require professional licensure. When a student's needs go beyond that scope, our licensed clinicians step in, so students always have access to the right level of care, delivered by the right professional.

Licensed Clinical Care, Delivered Where Students Are.

Meet our School Based Clinicians

Our school-based clinicians are licensed or registered mental health professionals (marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, and professional clinical counselors) who provide therapy and clinical intervention directly on campus. Where a Behavioral Wellness Coach focuses on prevention and skill-building, our clinicians step in for students who need a deeper level of clinical care.

A school-based clinician's work can include:

  • Individual and family therapy, including trauma-focused and evidence-based approaches

  • Crisis intervention, responding when a student needs immediate support

  • Home outreach, extending care beyond the school day into the family setting

  • IEP and 504 coordination, working alongside school teams to support students with individualized plans

  • Participation in student support meetings, helping schools respond early and effectively to emerging needs

Licensed, Supervised, and Clinically Accountable

Every clinician practices under structured clinical supervision, including regular individual and group case consultation with licensed supervisors, plus ongoing access to crisis consultation when a student needs it most. That supervision structure means a family gets the same standard of clinical care no matter which of our clinicians they work with.

For districts with more complex, multi-site needs, we also provide senior clinical oversight to coordinate care across a caseload, support fidelity to the treatment model, and consult on higher-acuity cases.

On Average,

our School Based clinicians, who are providing full-service community-based mental health services, hosted 347 school climate events per month. Their most provided services included: individual psychotherapy, preventative medicine, targeted case management, and health behavior intervention.

The Villages Approach

What Sets Us Apart

We hold ourselves to the highest clinical standard. Villages of California is accredited by The Joint Commission for Behavioral Health Care, and our staff credentialing aligns with California's HCAI and BBS standards. Districts partner with us knowing our quality framework is independently verified, not self-reported.

We're a fully managed partner, not a staffing agency. We retain clinical ownership of the program from day one: supervision, training, quality assurance, and outcomes all sit with Villages, not with the district or a subcontracted agency.

We train the workforce we deploy. Villages holds BBS-approved graduate training site affiliations with universities across Southern California, giving us a steady pipeline of clinicians who are trained in our model before they ever step onto a campus. That pipeline supports staffing continuity even during high-turnover periods in the behavioral health field.

We're built for the realities of public-sector reimbursement. As part of Cohort 1 implementing California's CYBHI fee schedule in Orange County, we've developed billing and reporting infrastructure specifically for school-based, publicly reimbursed care, so districts aren't the ones absorbing that operational complexity.

Our workforce reflects the students we serve. Our clinicians and support staff deliver care in multiple languages, including Spanish, Mandarin, Farsi, and ASL, so language is never the barrier to a student or family getting support.

Mental Health Support You Can Trust.

Every family deserves a village.

Proven Results

Recognized for Partnership Excellence

Our partnership with Anaheim Elementary School District was honored with the Administrator of the Year, Partners in Educational Excellence award from the Association of California School Administrators, Region 17, recognizing the depth of our clinical integration with the district.

What Sustained Partnership Looks Like

Since launching with Anaheim Elementary School District, our program has scaled substantially year over year, more than doubling documented care events while maintaining a high rate of in-person service delivery and a strong reimbursement track record under California's CYBHI fee schedule.

Beyond clinical services, our team has coordinated community-facing initiatives (including resource fairs, mobile clinic days, and basic-needs support) that reflect our commitment to the whole family, not just the individual student.
